Subaru Pleo

March 21st, 2006 by

 Wiki Article

The Subaru Pleo is a compact keicar made by Subaru, and only sold in Japan. It was launched in October 1998 when Japanese regulations dictated a size change in the keicar tax bracket, and every keicar model from every make was redesigned as a result.

The Pleo is taller than conventional keicar hatchbacks, but still shorter than the definitive keicar minivan, the Suzuki Wagon R.

It was available with a variety of 658 cc I4 engines: SOHC, DOHC, and supercharged in two different trim levels.

The Pleo was replaced by the Subaru R2, which was introduced on December 8, 2003. However, the Pleo is still available as an affordable model with low-end engines.

Subaru Vivio

March 21st, 2006 by

 Wiki Article

The Subaru Vivio was a keicar that was introduced in March 1992, and manufactured by Subaru.

The name "Vivio" is a reference to the numbers 660 written in Greek, and also inspired by the word vivid. The Vivio replaced the Subaru Rex. It was available in 3 and 5-door versions. The "Vivio Bistro" was a variation with a retro theme, with Mini-esque front and rear fascias, matching upholstery and modifications to the dashboard. The Bistro series was popular and Japan would see a string of modern retro-styled cars.

Like larger Subarus, the Vivio was available with a variety of supercharged 4-cylinder engines, with an emphasis on performance.

The Vivio T-top was a limited production, coupe-convertible version. It was a two-seater with a detachable two-piece roof.

In October 1998, keicar regulations changed, prompting manufacturers to release new models. The Vivio was replaced by the Subaru Pleo during this time. The Pleo was subsequently replaced by the Subaru R2 in December 2003
